Liposuction Singapore: Prices and Reviews 2023

If you are looking to find the best liposuction doctor in Singapore for your liposuction procedure, you may wish to check out related reviews from customers who 'have been there, done that'. Although liposuction reviews are everywhere on the internet, some reviews may be fake and biased.

It is clear from browsing around forums, blogger reviews and popular healthcare marketing sites that there is a lot of bias in commercially sponsored content (e.g. advertorials etc.) as well as misinformation being spread. Although there is no way to guarantee that a review is independent and genuine, we have tried to filter out those junks, salesy and spammy reviews out there. We have tried to compile those reviews that we think are of quality and unbiased so that it's easy for you to come to a decision.

Types of Liposuction

Liposuction is not a straight forward procedure. There are different areas and techniques involved and would require a consultation with your cosmetic surgeon in order to recommend the best possible option.

As techniques have been refined, many ideas have emerged that have brought liposuction closer to being safe, easy, less uncomfortable, and effective. The marketing that goes on makes it hard for the consumer to determine truth from exaggeration however. The following is a list of liposuction techniques:

  1. Suction-assisted liposuction (SAL)
  2. Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL)
  3. Power-assisted liposuction (PAL)
  4. Twin-cannula (assisted) liposuction (TCAL or TCL)
  5. External ultrasound-assisted liposuction (XUAL)
  6. Water-assisted liposuction
  7. Laser assisted liposuction
  8. Tumescent technique
  9. Sutures
  10. Liposuction and tightening / lifting skin
The two technologies that appear to be most effective are Liposonix (focused ultrasound) and Zeltiq (Coolsculpting or cryotreatment). They are both FDA approved and there is good data to support their effectiveness. There likely will be some new technologies coming down the road, but again, don't expect them to be as effective as surgical liposuction procedures. (Read more)

Before you visit your cosmetic surgeon, it's advisable to have a basic understanding of what liposuction is. You can read more about the procedure on wikipedia. If you are still confused on which liposuction is the right liposuction for you, check out the answers provided by 7 medical doctors on Realself.

Liposuction Prices in Singapore

Doctors charge different rates for liposuction procedures and may require a minimum of five body parts per procedure.

Most surgeons also charge according to body part and of course, bigger areas, such as the belly, cost more than neck liposuction. Here are the usual costs for fat removal treatment.

Total liposuction costs - $15,00-$25,000
Liposuction - $1,500 to $4,000 per area
Consultation costs - $35-$330
Sculpting services - $250-$700 per area treated

According to Plastytalk (2014):
The cost of liposuction in Singapore range anywhere from SGD 1,500 to 12,000. At Raffles Hospital, the traditional procedure at costs at least SGD 8,000 while the water jet-assisted method will set one back by at least SGD 10,000. The ultrasonic-assisted one costs at least SGD 12,000.

Can I use MediSave for Liposuction in Singapore?

MediSave can only be used to pay expenses for medical and not cosmetic treatment. Since liposuction is considered a cosmetic treatment, it is not Medisave claimable.

Liposuction Singapore Reviews

October 2021 - A Dream Come True
I had my thigh liposuction surgery on August 11th. I am currently 2 months post op and I couldn’t be any happier with the professional team at Azataca. I've always wanted to get my thighs done but was always hesitant and afraid of the pain and recovery. I stumbled on realself and saw Dr Terence's profile. There were many good reviews and I felt assured to do my surgery with him. I went down for my 1st consultation and knew I was in the right hands.

I did my homework and asked him all the questions I was unsure of. He assured me that my procedure would be simple and there will not be any complications. On the day of the surgery, the nurses and staff were very nice and made sure I was comfortable and not in any discomfort. Even the anesthesiologist was amazing and I felt no pain. Recovery was smooth and the staff was constantly messaging me to check up on me.

Please go to Azataca for a peace of mind and engage Dr Terence as your surgeon. You will not regret :)

July 2018 - Experience Guaranteed To Delight Patient Under Dr. Terence (Liposuction of Bilateral Arm and Axilla)
Dr. Terence takes great pride in his work and places high expectation of himself to achieve perfect result.

I had liposuction of Bilateral Arm and Axilla done 4 weeks ago and I am supremely satisfied with the result despite I am still in the recovery stage. It was not easy for a girl like me with low threshold of pain to go through the procedure and the recovery. But Dr. Terence assured me that the procedure will be carried out smoothly and he provided the support that I need when I need it.. He will try his best to accommodate my request if it’s within his capability and if it is in the best interest for me. I know I am in the good hands of Dr. Terence and I fully trust his visuospatial skill.

He has created a great masterpiece for my upper body with his high degree of manual dexterity. Looking forward to see the final result in months to come.

June 2014 - My Liposuction journey. Experience and afterthoughts..
So I’m blogging about my Liposuction journey and it’s going to be a lengthy post.
It had been more than a year since I went for liposuction and I am still recovering now.
Why did I go for it?
My upper body tend to slim down faster than my lower body, and even if I put on weight, my lower body tend to put on faster and more than the upper body. I listened to my friend’s advice to start brisk walking, even though it helps, there are still stubborn fats on my legs that just won’t go away. FYI, brisk walking really helps alot, I think one of the reasons my legs just couldn’t slim down as fast as my upper body is because most of the weight I lost is from dieting and hulahooping so my legs just couldn’t catch up with the upper?

Mar 2013
I finally did my tummy tuck 2 weeks ago at SGH by Dr Colin Song. Got my belly button stitches remove (2nd visit after discharge) yesterday by Dr Song. Like Superstar, I was comtemplating to do it in Thailand (Phuket for me... surgeon quoted me US$3,000 all in with hospital stay) initially but after some thoughts & research, I've decided to do it in Singapore. Dr Song is really nice & caring...very informative and willing to share which is important. After seeing him, my mind was so much settled. It is more expensive to do it here but one of the main reason I drop the idea of going to Phuket is because I wanted to be near my family and having them around you during the first week of surgery is important as you will need help to do simple things. I stayed in SGH for 3 nites (btw the nurses and Dr Song were great! Am surprised to get such good service & care at govt hospital). Get off bed to walk after 3pm of day 2. Slept with my back elevated and legs flexed for a week as I cannot stand or lie straight like normal. Gotta be careful that I don't 'pop' the stitches inside and outside. If anyone of you are interested to know more detail of what happened after surgery, I'll be happy to share. It is too early to tell at this stage because there are still swellings (will go away slowly approx 6 months time per Dr Song) BUT I'm really happy with my tummy now, looks so much better before the op even though the swellings are still there! No regrets! All I need to do now is to take good care of my wound and scar so that they heal nicely.

Vaser Liposuction

VASER liposuction, or Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance Liposuction is a form of liposuction with one key difference: it is less invasive than liposuction. Like liposuction, it still works to eliminate unwanted fat, but it is done through different methods entirely.

How VASER liposuction works is that ultrasound technology is used to liquefy unwanted fat cells, breaking them down before they are suctioned out of your body entirely. This technique actually makes the fat easier to remove, especially in areas with larger amounts or denser fat.

It also comes with several advantages as compared to typical liposuction. For instance:
  • It can be done under local anaesthetic.
  • It has minimal risk of bleeding, bruising, and discomfort.
  • It involves quicker recovery with lesser downtime.
  • It stimulates collagen production, resulting in tighter skin.

How Much is Vaser Liposuction in Singapore?

According to MoneySmart, Vaser and other body contouring procedures can cost anywhere from $1,400 and $14,000. That’s a very big price range, but that’s because the liposuction cost in Singapore will be affected by the size of the area, and the number of sessions you need.

Vaser Liposuction Singapore Price and Reviews

Did my vaser liposuction here, and it was one of the best decision I have made for myself! I am a fairly active person but was always self conscious as as much I exercise, I could not lose fat at my abdomen area. I did my research for almost a year before I decided to go with Dr Shen. The whole team, from the doctor to the nurses to the staff were nothing but super helpful throughout the process. What really exceeded my expectations was the aftercare, I don’t think I have come across any doctors that are so diligent with the aftercare. I had some fluid buildup after the procedure (which is common), and it took a few visits for it to completely go away, and the team were always super accommodating.

I am now approximately 4 months post surgery, and absolutely loving how well defined my abs look! Thank you, Dr Shen and your awesome team :)

November 2021 - I Have a Flat, Taut Tummy Now!

Reasons for choosing Dr Chia: Thanks to some of the detailed realself reviews here (mainly about BA) with pictures, and other bits and pieces of Dr Chia's reviews over the internet with pictures, I gathered that her sense of beauty and skills will match up to my expectation.

Good bedside mannerism is another important factor hence I am more or less 90% positive to have my operation done by her even before my first consultation. Dr Chia gave me a “sculptured” tummy within a month which I can never achieved despite 2 years of toning and exercising. As of now, I love the taut, flat, contoured abdomen (kinda like 11-line abs!)

Cost : $3500 onwards per area (it uses ultrasound and can accurately liquefy fats for precise suction.

August 2012 - Just Did VASER on my Arms Today! - Singapore

Just had my arms done today. Couldnt sleep well last night. My mind was filled with lots of questions - will it be painful? will i be able to carry stuff and more..Will i be able to go to work on Day 3 after the surgery. (i have no choice!) My family are not here with me as they're in another country that is very far from me and my boyfriend is out of town for work). he mixed feelings i had has been bugging me since the day i booked my appointment for VASER.

July 2016 - VASERLipo for Double Chin and Back Fat - Singapore, SG
It was hard to fix a hereditary double chin with non-invasive treatments so when I opted for VASERlipo, a minimally-invasive treatment, it was even harder to find a doctor that I could trust.
Dr Ivan Puah from Amaris B. Clinic was not only a skilful and knowledgable doctor, but he is also very assuring. He also manages my expectations in a very honest manner, unlike many other doctors, which I utterly appreciate.
Cost: SGD 9,100

FAQ

1. Are Liposuction Results Permanent?

No, though the fat cells are removed permanently, you can gain the weight back, with new fat cells which usually go to different areas of your body. To maintain your body after surgery, follow a suitable diet that includes lots of lean protein, fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy. Furthermore, be sure to exercise regularly. A healthy lifestyle can ensure long-lasting results.

2. How Do You Prepare For the Liposuction Surgery?

On the days leading to the liposuction procedure, here are a few things you must do to prepare yourself for the surgery:
  • Do not eat or drink anything on the morning of your surgery to prep the body for the anaesthesia
  • Do not shave or wax the areas where the procedure will be done to prevent infections
  • Do not apply anything on your skin (skincare, makeup, sunscreen, etc) prior to your surgery
  • Wear loose and comfortable clothing to avoid pain and friction on affected areas post-surgery
  • Have someone drive and pick you up from the hospital as you are not allowed to operate heavy machinery after the procedure
  • Do not smoke for at least four weeks before your procedure to avoid excessive bleeding

3. What Are The Possible Risks of Liposuction?

Liposuction is a generally safe procedure that many people undergo with close to zero fatality rate. The risk of complications is usually associated with how large the procedure is. However, complications are also mitigated if done by experienced and well-trained surgeons, aestheticians, and technicians. But, similar to any kind of surgery, the liposuction procedure can come with possible risks such as:
  • Anaesthesia risks
  • Loose skin folds
  • Accumulation of fluid and/or blood
  • Numbness
  • Uneven or irregular skin contours
  • Infections
  • Thromboembolism or fat & blood clots getting trapped in a blood vessel that can gather in the lungs or brains
  • Damage inflicted to internal organs
  • Poor scarring and recovery
  • Imbalanced fluids that may affect the heart, lungs, or kidneys

The risks of complications for liposuction vary, but has an approximation of 5%. You may discuss with your doctor the possible risks and complications that come with this procedure, and how to prevent them.

4. Liposuction Procedure and Recovery

Liposuction may be formed as a day surgery procedure if only a small amount of fat needs to be removed. However, if a large amount of fat has to be removed, multiple areas need to be treated, or other procedures are planned at the same time, your surgeon will likely recommend general anaesthesia and hospital admission afterwards for safety reasons.

The fat will be sucked away using suction probes through small incisions which are carefully placed to ensure that they are as hidden as possible. These generally fade to become barely perceptible over time.

Liposuction Recovery

Dressings and/or bandages will be applied over the incisions. Small tubes (drains) may be need to be placed to remove the excess blood and fluid for several days. Tight compression garments are usually fitted post-operatively over the treated areas to reduce the swelling and control the bruising. This will need to be worn continuously for several weeks until your surgeon advises otherwise. It may take a few weeks before you are able to resume your normal activities, including exercise.

It will take several months for the swelling and irregular contours to settle completely. The skin in the treated areas can shrink and mold itself to a certain degree. The final results can generally be seen 6 months after surgery. If you have good skin tone and elasticity, the skin is likely to appear smooth. However, if your skin is thin with poor elasticity, or if too much fat has had to be removed, the skin in the treated areas may continue to appear loose. Removal of this loose skin will require additional surgery through larger, more obvious incisions.

Because liposuction reduces the number of fat cells in a specific area, the resultant improvement in contour is generally permanent, provided your weight remains stable. If you gain weight after liposuction, your fat distribution may change. For example, you may notice preferential accumulation of fat in areas that were not treated by liposuction.
