Dr Karen Sng is a Ministry of Health-accredited female plastic surgeon in private practice at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre in Singapore. As a woman, she understands the concerns and needs of other women. As a mother, she also understands how pregnancy changes a woman’s body and she shares the challenges faced by mothers. Dr Sng is able to offer her patients a feminine perspective on plastic surgery.

Training
Having graduated from the University of Leicester Medical School, Dr Sng embarked on surgical training, and upon completion of basic surgical training, she was awarded membership into the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She was subsequently awarded Master of Medicine in Surgery from the National University of Singapore.


Dr Sng then underwent Advanced Surgery Training in the field of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery at the Singapore General Hospital and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She obtained the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship to receive further training at the International Craniofacial Institute Cleft Lip and Palate Treatment Center in Dallas, Texas under the tutelage Dr Kenneth E Salyer and Dr Carlos Raul Barcelo. There Dr Sng completed a one-year ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) fellowship in cleft and craniofacial surgery. During her fellowship, Dr Sng was a member of the team that cared for and separated the Egyptian craniopagus twins, Mohammed and Ahmed.Upon her return to Singapore, Dr Sng successfully completed her plastic surgery training and was admitted to the Register of Specialists and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2005.
